Distiller's Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)

Distiller's Dried Grains with Solubles is a valuable feed ingredient with good levels of protein, moderate levels of fat, and low levels of fibre.

Minimum 35% PRO-FAT Combined of US origin.

DDGS is the product left after converting the starch portion of corn to ethanol through yeast fermentation.  The ethanol is removed by distillation and the remaining nutrients, such as protein, fat, fibre, vitamins and minerals, are concentrated in the DDGS.

DDGS is very palatable to all livestock. For ruminants, it is an excellent all natural protein and energy source and it is a significant source of “bypass” protein, replacing other protein and some grain supplements in forage and concentrate diets.  The energy value of DDGS is greater than corn and since the energy in DDGS is derived from its high levels of fat and digestible fibre rather than starch, it is a good feedstuff to use for adding extra energy to rations without causing acidosis.

DDGS can provide both energy and protein to pig diets, as long as the amino acids are supplemented to provide a more balanced mix overall.

For poultry diets, DDGS' high protein content makes it valuable addition in the feed mix.  Improved performance is obtained when using light rather than dark coloured DDGS (our DDGS is Golden Yellow and has a minimum Hunter L score of 50).

For determining the required feed mix for the growth stage of the target animal, a qualified animal nutritionist should be consulted.
